Discover to Recover

Discover to Recover is a school which also houses many children who have many illnesses and are more or less shunned but they are all so amazing and just wonderful. Its hard to know that many of the are suffering from illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and other things but to see the spirit that the kids have and the amazing power that this school has to impact the kids lives to give them a place to say and also knowledge to help them grow and mature. It was an amazing day and they are so amazing to hang out with. Some of the greatest picture I feel I have ever taken were here because each kid has so much life and so much in there eyes that cannot be expressed in words. I love these kids and I love this place. I hope some of these pictures can do it some justice.

Purpose Driven

Purpose Driven Academy is one of the schools that I teach at and really love. It has a church on the campus called Deliverance Church. Moses and Margret Wanyonyi run both the church and the school and they are truly amazing people. I went this week with Margret and Sammy around to the other Schools that Margret started, she has a total of 4 schools with well over 1000 students between all of them. And the size of the schools are not very large. Many of the students that she has going to her school don't even pay tuition because they cannot so they are working by the grace of God to keep these places afloat. She is truly an amazing woman of God and to see her passion for these kids and what she wants to do with planting schools near refugee camps. She told us that her goal is to have 7 primary schools (elementary) and about 4 secondary schools (high school). Moses and Margret are currently looking for some new property to move part of the purpose driven school since part of the boys dorms burned down. So here are some picture of the cute kids that were there. 

Kitale Academy

We got the rare opportunity of spending a couple days at the provincial finals of the singing competition at Kitale Academy. There were all sorts of schools there that were performing to try and make it to the next round, which is the national championship. There were many great performances and I was able to get a few shots but not many because we got there at one of the final days.

These kids are from one of the schools that I teach at and the are one of the greatest performances that i heard and i am not just saying that because i love the Shimo kids. :)

These guys in red are Masai and they had the best dancing of any of the teams that i saw. Their outfits were pretty awesome as well.

The ladies man Abdi is one of my favorite kids at Shimo he is so funny and such a cool kid.

Hanging with the world racers

We got great privilege of spending time with fellow missionaries and having them over for a fun filled dinner one night then an awesome night of hanging out and worshiping together. One of the things Pastor Steve was saying is that a lot of times missionaries that are all in the same place tend to stay far away from each other as if it was like a competition between us missionaries. We wanted to expel this methodology the best we could by having them over and tell them that we want to encourage them in what they were doing and give them a great dinner and fellowship together.

This is what all of us looked liked crammed into one room.

We had a pretty epic game of Volleyball between the two teams then we just all switched up sides and had a sweet time.

We also had some pretty amazing guys to lead worship for us.
