Kenya Through a Lens: Finally Here

Sorry everyone that it has taken me so long to write on my blog. The team that I flew with got delayed in Brussels for 24 hours and had a great time all of us hanging out and walking around the city at night. We got a complementary hotel room for both the girls and the guys. After traveling for a solid 3 days we finally made it to Kenya but we were still in Nairobi so we spent the night there because we got in at 10 pm. When we woke up the next day we took a very bumpy 9-hour bus ride to Kitale. So after 4 days we finally made it to Kitale. After a much-needed night of sleep we spent the day going into town. Then on Sunday we went to Deliverance church and Pastor Steve asked me to speak at the church so I spoke with Steve, Pastor Moses, and Hannah who gave her testimony. I just briefly spoke on how I came to be in Kenya and how I have been trying to reach outside of my comfort zone to reach the people of Kenya. After the message we gave gifts to one of the widows of the church. We ended up giving her a cow, which was really sweet. Then after we left the church we came back and had some of the Mercy Girls who are a group of girls and a few boys who were taken from some horrible situations and moved to Purpose Driven Academy. A man who claimed that if the parents and missionaries paid him he would make sure that they would get to go to school and to feed them took many of them from their homes. But this man was very corrupt and ended up basically enslaving the children to do work and make money for him by selling milk and other things like that. They eventually got out after much work by Pastor Steve and Pastor Moses and many other people.
